I'm trying to fix my A/C in my 79 Caprice classic. I just got the car, but it had been sitting a lot a rarely used over the last many years. There is no air pressure in the condenser or on the lines. I was told my Compressor is not even kicking on and the whole system is shot from a mechanic in the shop and gave me a rediculous quote to fix it. I think I can fix it myself. So basically, where is the fuse or the fuse relay located? How can I troubleshoot to find the core problem because I don't see how everything could just go out together when the car was rarely used. Can I replace the compressor and condensor myself and fill it with 134A?

the compressor will not come on if there is no freon in the system.

you have to fill it up before it's going to even try to work.
