Steering problem
1977 Chevy Caprice 85000 miles
I have an old Chevy Caprice that, after a period of time, managed to have its turn signal lever break off. The signal still works fine, but the lever has been completed removed from the steering column.
In an attempt to get it repaired, I have called around, and the best estimate I've received has been about $230 (from a local reputable mechanic). Is this a fair estimate for parts + labor?
Over the phone, the estimate for parts given was roughly $75 (+/- $10), leaving the total labor to be somewhere around $155.
In addition, is it possible to complete a not-as-certified DIY repair, and if so, could you guide me in a general direction as how to do that?
