2002 Chevy Camaro will start but will only run about 30 sec

car was in bassment for 14 months. It started I drove it out it idled smoked a little and smelled funny .I drove it about a quater of a mile to main road and pulled out and it was like it flooded.I drained the gas changed fule fifter.The spark plugs were black I changed them . It would start and only run a few sec it smelled like gas but it did not smell funny any more . I checked fuel pressure it had 52 pounds. changed massairflow it still would not run more than a few sec . looked at plugs and they were wet. help please.

It's getting flooded for some reason. First pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if it is wet with fuel inside. If so change the regulator. If not, use a fuel pressure gauge and see how the pressure holds when shut off. If the pressure starts to drop off, then you likely have a bad injector or two.

the fuel pressure regulator on a 2002 camaro does not have a vacuum line it has a fuel line and 2 lines going to the fuel rails. I checked the fuel pressure and it held 52 pounds for 15 min.

Yes, your right. The regulator on this one is inside the fuel tank.

I talked to the parts man at the chevy dealer an he told me to get the fuel pressure regulator you have to buy the whole fuel rail .it not in the fuel tank. I am very disapointed with that answer. I would like my money back if that is all you can tell me.

Tell him to go check again It's #3 in the picture but is not your problem.

Try cleaning out the idle air control valve and EGR and PCV valves and test the throttle positon sensor and see what happens -don't work and still unsatisfied-request for refund and good luck and TY for using 2carpros
