What could cause a low coolant light to come on, even though there is plenty of coolant in the system? Also, the car is not overheating, it's running fine, just the low coolant light will not go off even though there is plenty of coolant in the system.

If the plastic recovery tank is more than half full it should go out, if not replace the sensor in the tank.

okay, so i am finding out that for some reason this only happens once the car is driven around for a while, and once it cools off for a few hours the light does not appear anymore. Would this additional info. change your answer in any way?

Then either the sensor, or circuit, or gauge is defective..I go with the sensor.
