When driving it seems to bog down or even miss real bad when hitting the gas and when it does this it will backfire then the service light comes on and the cooling fan kicks on but when I looked at the temp guage it's not running hot. What could this be?

It may be that your fuel/air mixture isn't correct. I would check your Mass Air Flow sensor, as well as change your Oxygen sensors. The MAF sensor has two small heated wires that tend to build up deposits from the air. This causes the reading of the air temperature and moisture level to be wrong, which in turn gives an incorrect reading to the computer.

The best way to clean it, if it is dirty, is to buy a can of spray electrical cleaner that leaves no residue. Take the MAF sensor out and spray the electrical cleaner onto the two thin wires several times. Make sure you don't touch them with anything, as they will most likely break. They're very thin and fragile.

If you can get those wires somewhat more clean, you could see a major difference.
