This motor is actually in my street rod...I put a new coil, (Accel), on the car a few months ago and now the car won't start and there is no spark to the plugs. Also the coil is getting very hot after cranking the engine. Petronics electronic conversion in the distributor.

the accel coil is probably your problem. When you switch to things like pertronix ignition systems your ohms in the coil have to match. I had the same problem with my motorcycle with the same set up. If you take your coil out you'll probably see the casing is cracked. You can contact pertronix on the web and they will tell you what ohms your coil should have. It all has to do with resistance. the accel is probably to high. I have not had good luck with their products though either.
