I am looking to replace the compressor on my 98 blazer ls however it is very expensive and am looking at doing it myself. It seems like a relatively simple job. But, I need to know the correct steps to take after purchasing the compressor.

Why are you replacing the compressor? If it's because it has failed you will need more parts than just a new compressor. If it's because of leakage make sure it is the compressor. Even then you will want to flush the system and recharge with new oil and replace the drier unit.
