I smell antifreeze through my vents. I had it checked diagnostically and "they could not find anything" and suggested a new radiator cap. That did not help. Now I have someone else telling me, it is the heating core (just by my description). Shouldn't they have found something when they hooked it up to check it? And I realize a heating core is labor intensive, how much am I looking at to pay for something like this? And how dangerous is it to drive until I get it fixed?

i wouldnt suggest letting it go. does the carpet feel damp to you. do you know if the pressure test was loosing pressure. did they check the lower intake gasket and see if they were leaking down on the exhaust manifold.

All I know is what they told me. That everything was fine and that I should try a new radiator cap. As far as I know, all they checked was the pressure test...I don't know what that entails...

I have seen no puddles. I assume it may be a small leak or else I wouldn't be smelling the antifreeze?

The Blazer is only 4 years old! What would cause the heater core to go bad? If that's what it is.

i would still take a look at the water pump for indication that it leaks once in a while, lower intake gaskets before you take apart the heater core. just take a flash light and look around the engine compartment and see if you see anything wet. I just doubt its the heater core. are you sure its an antifreeze smell. when do you usually smell it? do you have the AC on when you do. is the AC off. Is the engine warm or cold? Have you been driving it a while? this will help me alot knowing when you do smell it.
