oil pressure sensor

Engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor is on the top rear of the engine, near the distributor for the 4.3L motor. yes it does have a 2 prong connector this pic below should help pinpoint it If security light is flashing than that is what is stopping power to the fuel pump, not the oil pressure sensor. Try using a spare key to see if that helps.

Well, thanks for the pic but that's not what what my engine configuration looks like. Vehicle is a 2002 ZR2 Blazer.

your vehicle uses an oil pressure sensor and it is located on the top rear of engine, near the distributor. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

I see in the book that the oil pressure switch will keep the fuelpump from kicking on. Will low oil pressure activate the pressure switch and disable the pump. Pressures on the fuelpump were tested and are all within range of the guidlines in the book.

The oil pressure switch turns the pump on when the oil pressure reaches about 10 pounds. A defective switch is usually easy to figure out. The engine will start and run a couple seconds and shut down because the pump shuts off.

oil sending unit replacement, how much should something like this cost approximately....i have a oil leak but its not seepage, my engine runs great, no smoke, no change in oil gauge.....leaks about a 2 inch smear in 8 hours....could it be anything else.....

to my guess that the sending unit can be up to about $22.00. It is lockaed under hood on the passengers side lower engine above pan. Sometimes they do leak and go bad like any other part. Make sure it is the sending unit that is leaking before buying a new one.

Hi. I'm a new member and I have a question. I'm rebuilding my motor and am looking for the adaptor that screws into the block into which screws the oil pressure sending unit. Why can't I find one? Thank you

if you are using a factory gauge, then it's just a standard pipe thread.

If you are using an aftermarket mechanical gauge you will probably have to buy a kit that comes in a small bag to connect compression fittings to pipe thread fittings.

Normally when you buy an oil pressure switch or sending unit they are one-eighth inch pipe threads. They sometimes come with an adapter for the one-quart inch threads in the engine block. They also make 45 and 90 degree adapters to gain easier access or clearance as well for the distributor or firewall. I've attached pictures below of a new oil pressure sending unit as well as what a 45 and 90 degree adapter elbow looks like. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
