Transmission problem
2000 Chevy Blazer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a chevy blazer that after driving for some time with the a/c on the coolant temp gose up and the truck starts to slam into 2nd gear 3rd is a bit rough to and if you are not running the a/c on a hot day but drive it stop and go traffic for about a hour it will start to act up. i have taken it to many places and am told every time that i need a new transmisson but i do not belive them cause its fine in the winter.the real kicker is that you turn the truck off for ten min its like it resets and its normal for another hour. i am a tech my self but this truck is really got me scratching my head. if any one can help me i will be thank full i dont have much money to spend so i am hoping this is something that i can try to fix on my own

actually the trans guys are probably right. You are experiencing when the trans heats up the seals are either slipping or the valves are sticking. Or its effecting the electronics in the trans. You didn't say how hot the car gets when the a/c is on. Is the far running ? it should be when the a/c is on. If it is and it still overheats then check the rad for cold spots . If it does have them then the rad needs to be replaced or at lleast flushed with the prestone type cleaner. That would mean taking the lower hose off to get all the crap out not using the drain if it has one or one of those fancy type flushing machines. Because of hte aluminum now used so much it wears away and gets to the rad. so you take the hose off to get most of it out of the system.
