Why does the speedometer read higher that actual mph? How do I find out and how can I repair it. Tires are the size recommended. While driving 70 mph (along side others autos) the speedometer will read 80 to 85 mph.

Will this also skew the Miles Per Gallon showing in the on board computer?

Need to replace your vehicle speed sensor. Depending on the model, it is located at the right rear of the transmission or transfer case.
