What does it mean when I drive through deep snow in 4 wheel drive and the 4 wheel drive service light comes on?

The computer is picking up on an electrical problem. Is the 4wd working? What I would recommend is to have the computer scanned to see if there are any codes store in it. Most parts stores will do it for free.
