Hi Elizabeth
This is not really that hard. First go to your local parts store, most have a tool rental program.
you need a steering wheel lock depressor.
First disconnect the batterry neg cable.
next remove the horn pad there is two screws behind the steering wheel.
unplug horn wires from pad remove pad.
now you will see a shaft and it has a big nut on it.CAUTION if you have an airbag unplug and remove bolts . always be careful handling air bag never sit directly in front of it set off to one side. put the airbag in a safe place where it will not be disturbed.
now remove big nut on shaft, you will need a steering wheel puller to remove the wheel.before you remove the wheel mark the shaft with white paint stick and the steering wheel for reinstall.
after the wheel is off you are now looking at a lock plate put your lockplate remover on the shaft it will screw on the threads and turn the nut on the tool this will depress the lock plate so you can remove the lock ring on the shaft.
after you remove the lock ring back the nut off the depressor tool and remove the tool. now lift the lockplate and spring. now you are looking at the turn signal switch.
remove the three screws holding the switch. unplug the switch from under the dash at bottom of coloumn.you will need to help it through the bottom of the coloumn.install the new one .
hope this helps billymac
