The hood release inside does not disengage the hood. My husband used pliers to pull the cable, but that no longer works.

is there still tension on the cable? such as cable comes out when pulled then goes back in when released?
if so the cables not snapped and you may have to bounce on the hood and pry it up a bit when hes pulling on the cable, if that fails you will have to have him pull it and then reach up into the mechanism with a screwdriver and hopefully disengage it.
