1997 Chevy Blazer Brake Squeel

Brake pads are not worn, front discs are not worn. Squeeling occurs when driving and ceases when pedal is slighly pushed (1/4 inch). When pedal is pushed slightly and the gas pedal is constant (cruise control) the squeeling stops and the RPM increases about 400-500rpm. The discs, calipers and wheel are not hot. Is this an ABS adjustment problem or parts problem? How can I test for this?

I would suspect the brake pads don't have any anti squeal material on them. Also check to see if the calipers are sliding properly. If they were hanging a bit it could cause a squeal. The rpm increase is normal. It is because the lock up torque converter disengages when you step on the brakes.

I would pull the front calipers, clean ALL slide surfaces and lube them with some silicon grease, especially the internal bores of the caliper pins, they tend to rust up and cause sticking. Reinstall the pads using some brake quiet. That should take care of it.
