Somewhere between 1st and 3rd the transmisson slips causing the rpm's to go high but when the rpm's reach about 3 or 4 3rd gear will kick in. But you need to keep the rpm's high in order to remain in 3rd gear. If not the rpm's fall back to nothing. I had a service engine soon light come on when all of this was happening, so I took it down and had it down and had it read on the computer and it said I needed to "replace the 2nd to 3rd shift cylinoid". But I have had several different opinions from getting a new transmission to electrical problems. I was wondering since I got the 2nd to 3rd shift cylinoid how easy is it to replace?

replace the solenoid, i don't think you should be trying to change it UNLESS you have a lift, if you don't have a lift it is extremely hard to do and chances are it wont be installed properly and cause more harm then good.
