1996 Chevy Blazer Loose steering, extra play in the steerin

I have alot of extra play in the steering on my 96 blazer. What are things I can do to fix this problem.

Hi:
The first thing you should do is have the front end steering components checked (tie rods, pitman arm...) To check such things, the front of the vehicle needs to be off the ground. Shake the front tires one at a time left and right to see if there is play in any of the parts. To check ball joints, you need to try to move the tire up and down.

This is hard to describe, but I'm trying. While you are doing this, have someone watch for loose parts.

Also check the idler arm and the steering box itself. The idler arms are VERY prone to wear.
