I overloaded the fuse on my cigerette lighter by keeping my computer plugged into it for too long.
Replacing the fuse did not correct the issue, I still have no current.
What other steps can I take to repair the problem?
Also, if it can be corrected, is there anythiing I can do/change so that I can plug my computer in and not blow it in the future?

replace the fuse and see if it blows the fuse. if it doesnt, reinstall the cig lighter and see if it works. if it doesnt replace the socket. as for running the computer, i would suggest calling your local computer store and see what they suggest for vehicle adapters.
