1994 Chevy Blazer smoking heater

hi i have a 94 chevy blazer and the heater panel which switches from defrost to floor etc. smokes right behind the switch when changing from defrost to floor or anything. any ideas? i shut it off immediately and re turn it on and sometimes it smokes again sometimes not????

I'm not sure, but I would remove the switch and make sure nothing has shorted. Check damaged wiring.
