Engine Performance problem
1994 Chevy Blazer V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

hello,engine will not start,i put wires,plugs,cap,rotor,exhaust maifold bolts,coolant tempurature switch,serpentine belt,idler pulley,distibutor,valve cover gaskets,tightened rocker arms down 1 1/4 turns.i brought up number one cylinder and did the number 1 cylinder side first and cranked it 360 degrees and brought number 4 up and tightened down the number 2 side.and still it will not start.but the only thing is when i started working on it the guy before me forgot to mark where the distibutor was.

Well are you sure it's set up right? These are hydraulic lifter? Just tighten them down. Turn the motor by hand with a wrench on the crack, pull the number one plug out, put your thumb on the hole, you will feel the compression when #1 is on compression stroke, put the piston all the way to the top. Now set up the distributor to fire the #1 plug! Do that by pointing the rotor to the #1 firing spot on the cap. now it will run if there are no mechanical problems!
