1993 Chevy Blazer rpm guage jumping,stalling and now will n

i was driving my blazer the other day and ran just fine but then it started to make noises and the rpm guages was jumping from 2000-5000 2000 being what it normaly is at when driving and 5 being the red zone. and the rpm would drop to zero and id rev my engine and it would catch and make a noise and start to move and it kept doing that till it just stoped and stalled the electronics never went off but i could not get it to start, it would crank but nothing more.
iv replace the fuel filter and the pump works fine and iv got no idea what to do now
also when i am able to get it to start and idel it will idel for about 2 min the die

Is the oil white?

Try checking throttle control sensor and the MASS

Mass is the sensor that reads how much air is coming in and at what temp.

I would start by pulling out the spark plug that is the most difficult to get to, which is the one that is on the driver's side behind steering shaft. I had the same problem and found that the 2 times i paid to have the plugs replaced, they did not replace this one. I bought mine at 50,000miles After 150000 miles mine still had the ORIGINAL OEM plug which was burt to a crisp. While i was at it, i went ahead and replaced all plugs, wires, dist cap, and rotor and it ran like new again.
I guess if you want something done right you gotta do it yourself.
