Engine Performance problem
1990 Chevy Beretta 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Earlier today when I started up my car the oil gauge was all the way up and the R.P.M.s were at a steady 2500-3000 and the service light was on. After about a minute everything went to normal. But about a mile down the road my car started to feel draggy and the service engine soon light came back on. Then my speedometer dropped to zero. I pulled into a gas station and shut it off and then back on and nothing. I haven't had an oil change in a while, It's long overdue. So I was wondering, would the speedometer not working have anything to do w/ needing an oil change really badly?
