Hello I hope you like to read, I bought my 64' chevy belair in augest 09' off a farm the tags said 1999 so it had been sitting but was in good condition considering. I've replaced so many parts on it(brand new carburator, new fuel pump, new distributor and cap, new spark plugs and wires, new bilet alternator, a used radiator in pritty good condition it came out of a small mazda at a salvage yard i think it's a "two core" ,new fuel lines, new ignition coil, new negative batt cable) and i'm sure i'm forgetting a couple parts. Anyways it still won't start it turns over real nice but won't run, i think it's not firing right and i'm only 17 so all the parts i put in i'm not sure if i installed them correctly but i think i did. Also the new alternator i put in the pully dosent fit but it still turns well. I did an oil change on it a month after i bought it. The gastank had rusted wholes in it so i took it out, and now evreytime i want to see if it will start i pour a little gas in the Carb and have the end of the fuel line in a little red gastank in the trunk(i'll buy a new gastank when i get the car running). I'm sure it's somthing simple, but if you could help me get it back on the road that would be a dream.

thnks ese

Do you have 12V at the pos (+) side of the coil. are the points gaped correctly, with the points closed, and ignition on open point with a small screw driver, you should get a strong spark at the coil lead, check these first.

yup the coil is in right and i get it turning over fast, but i'm thinkin that the timing is off and it might be miss firing, sometimes i get a backfire when starting fluid is sprayed in carb, but the coil is in correctly with + and - wires bolted down, i just cant get the timing right with the distributor, spark wires are in right 153624. Also will a pully that fits a 350 work on the 235 L6 just intill i can pull the old pully off the old alternator it still spining the fan fast.
