My car is actually a 1957 Chevy. When I turn the key to run, or cranking, it will crank and crank, but won't start. When I release the key back to the on position, the car will start. I had a pertronix ignition system installed in the distributor, and still have the ballast resistor on the car.
Can you tell me whats wrong, and how to correct the problem. Apparently it's not getting the full 12 volts when cranking, but when the key is released the voltage gets higher to start the car.
How can I test to see what's wrong. I am not very technical, and have not used test lights or voltage meters very much. However, I do have a continuity tester, and a multi-meter.
Thanks,
Cruiserdog
