2004 Chevy Avalanche fuel pump

can you change just the pump and not the whole assembly...also is there another fuel pump from another year or chevy that would match the one in my 04 avalanche

i think you have to replace the whole assembly. you would have to call your local dealer or parts house and see if any interchange. make sure you put a good one in, you dont want to get stranded

ok...i think i will pull the tank myself and then see if i can match just the pump...the price for the assembly is rediculous

i know they are expensive, but like i said make sure you put a good one in.

I will put the best pump i can find in...i will also cut a hole in the floor so if it happens again it will be a 20 min fix...someone online did this and it worked out for him cause the other pump went out 30k miles later...although i couldn't find the pics he posted...if i do it i will post step by step pics so some other poor fool can do it the easy way...thnx
