left front hub/bearing removal

It is really easy to replace these. Remove wheel, caliper and bracket, and brake rotor. Remove axle nut if it is a 4wd. There is 3 bolts holding the hub on located at the back of the knukle. Remove the bolts. Disconnect wheel speed sensor from harness. The new hub should come with a new sensor. If not you can try getting the old one out of the hub but they usually break due to corroision. GM replacement hubs comes with a new sensor. After disconnecting sensor take a hammer and tap out hub. Before installing new hub assembly clean around hole of knukle where hub slides in. This makes it easier to get the new hub in. Replace bolts, put axle nut on if it is a 4wd, plug in sensor. Put brake rotor, bracket and caliper back on. Put wheel on

Hey! I had installed a new upper control arm and ball joint assembly a few days ago and now I am getting a grinding and popping noise while driving. And it is only while moving. I can be parked and turn the wheel left to right with no noise, but at any speed or bump I can hear it any ideas? Oh, I also changed the shock. also, all repairs were done on the front driver side. better get in there and check the work you have done. the wheel bearing sounds like a good place to start, make sure that there is no lateral movement in the bearing. They go out all the time here is a video that shows how to replace it.

I am sorry I just realized I put ball bearing when I went to put ball joint.

When you put the upper control arm in, did you set the truck back on the ground to tighten the bolts? If you torqued them with the weight off they can make noises as the inner sleeve tries to move.

The grinding may be as simple as the brake backing plate rubbing on the rotor.
The only way to know for sure is to tear it apart and look.

Looked more into it today and got a new hub bearing which took care of the problem. It not being a daily driver I haven't been to awful worried about it but I found out that the bearings were bad, haha feel so stupid now but thank you all for your advice very much!!

I am getting ready to replace the RF hub assembly on my 2002 Avalanche 1500 4x4. While disassemble would I need to remove the axle nut as well, or just the x3 bolts connecting to the steering knuckle? If so, what size of socket would the ale nut be?
Also, what size is the torx bolts on the caliper assembly so i can do a brake job, while doing the hub assembly?

The axle nut is 36mm you have to remove the nut to replace the hub.As far as the caliper bolts not sure the exact size your going to have to get set of sockets.I have sockets I hardly ever use but you have to tools to work on your cars.
