Your mileage for the first set of brakes is very common for the late model Chevy truck family. You can expect less mileage on your newly installed brakes, that is a given. You should have no problem reaching 70,000 miles from you original replacement, keeping in mind that you will depress the brake pedal 930,000 times in the next five years, and that the rear brake hydraulics do not begin to drag from age, or the rear differential axle seals do not leak onto the pad linings.
One way to attain the maximum life of the brake system is have all the fluid flushed every two years. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, that is it absorbs moisture from the air, causing the fluids boiling point and anticorrosion inhibitors to weaken thus deteriorating the lines and brake components from the inside out.
