2000 Chevy Astro Over Heating & Blowing Cold Air

I've replaced the thermostat, I drained the radiator and then poured 8 gallons of water through it, and checked the serpantine belt making sure the fan was working properly. So, why is the Chevy Astro (van) still over heating and why is it only blowing out cold air in the cabin??? Heater core? Not flushed thoroughly? If you think it's the heater core, how much and how long of a job is it? Thanks in advance!

with a/c the book time is 3.2 hrs of labor.OEM core is around $150.00 Unhook the hoses and see if you can blow through the core, dont use too much pressure or it will rupture th ecore. There is also a heater control valve , be sure it is working. When does it overheat? idling? , driving?
