1999 Chevy Astro Timing Belt or Chain?

I purchased this van with app. 40000 miles and no service records. It runs great but I tried to find, online, a maintainance schedule. This is what I found...
tranny flush-30000
coolant-5years or 50000
plugs-100000
air filter-30000
fuel filter-30000
rear axle fluid-???
timing belt or chain-???

I have so far only replaced the front brake pads, air and fuel filters.

I cannot find any info in the owners manual concerning this.

I know that in the older vehicles, the chain would eventually stretch necessitating a timing adjustment.

The van has 80,000 miles.

I've never fooled with a timing chain unless there was an issue. I've never replaced a timing chain as a maintenance issue. I don't believe I've ever seen a mileage spec for that?

I had heard that when a timing belt breaks, major engine damage will result.
I guess that I have nothing to worry about since I have a chain.
