1998 Chevy Astro Rear Door Latch

How does the rear door latch mechanism go together? Mine is broken and I have to crawl through the van on the inside to manually pull the down rod.

I think that you will find that you need to replace the outside plastic handle. If you remove it, it think you will see that a plastic wedge plate has broken off. While you have the covers off, oil all the moving parts well and it should be OK for a couple years.
