OK first behind the battery there is a plastic block that should have a wire coming in and one going out on studs if this breaks it causes all kinds of issues so check this first. If that is good then please explain what is going on as best as you can the more info the better.

My husband says that the piece is not broken. The van will crank and run for about 5 minutes and then the battery dies. I have replaced everything.. when i get a jump off it will crank.

Ok if the battery is going dead then I would first take the alternator off and take it back to the parts store and have them test it make sure you didn't get a bad one. Take the battery with and test it too. If that is all good then get back to me and I will go through the wiring diagrams and see what else could cause this. I just would like to rule out a bad part first ok. If it is all good then you will need a digital multi meter to do some tests ok. Let me know how that goes and we will take it from there.

Ok I need you to check the 20 amp fuse for the guages. Then you need to trace down the red wire(larger battery wire) from the back of the alternator to the fuse link and test on both side to see if there is power to make sure that the link didn't blow. Let me know what you find.
