Van was dead this morning got a boost drove 10 mins to get gas. Went to start the van again and it was dead. Got another boost, drove it home, turned it off and tried to start it again...guess what? No battery. After each boost the battery gauge appeared to be in its normal position. This van has had occasional problems starting in the cold, but once it was started it would easily start again. Any help would be great!

Thanks,
Justin

Get the battery and alternator load tested if okay -could be a short circuit draining the battery overnite.

Any help would be great! does it stall after a short while too? If so it could be a charging problem. It sounds like you have a bad alternator,or coroded battery terminals. They say not to do this but get the car started and( while its still running) carefully remove the positive battery cable if the van stalls then youve more than likely got a bad alternator. also clean the terminals first see if that helps. A car will run and restart only for a short period of time with a jumpstart if the alternator is bad. Try cleaning the terminals first then if you remove the red positive cable and it quits running youve more than likjely got a bad alternatot. You might have a bad battery as well but its not likely thats the problem alone if the car(stalls) after a short time and wont restart it usally means the battery is not charging or is no good. But remember the car usually wont stall if the battery is bad but the alternator is good, although it wont restart either unless the battery still has enough charge to restart it after youve shut it off. Also have your battery tested it might be bad or weak, but remember if your car has a good alternator and a totally dead battery that is completely no good and you get it started with a jump it will not stall unless theres something else wrong with it or it has had a stalling problem other than the charging system before. And as for your charging gauge it might remain in the middle as normal but it should move towards charging sometimes if your battery has lost some charge,is weak, etc if your alternator is functioning properly. I hope my advice helps. Good Luck! P.S. Coulld possibly be the voltage regulator as well, start by cleaning the terminals, then go from there.
