AC not working

I have an astro that has a problem, the a/c clutch will not engage, I have added 134a, and the system just won't start. It quit suddenly, and the compressor turns freely letting me hear the compression(when the engine is off) I am looking for the a/c compressor relay, and can't find it. Would like some help Please!


I have tried to jumper the two terminals, and still no clutch engagement. Would love to know the location of the relay. It is only a $15 part, and would be easy to replace if I could just find it. Also forgot to mention that I have only two fan speeds right now, as I still have to replace the resistor stack.

Locate the accumulator, silver can, and find low pressure switch. Jumper the two terminals if AC comp engages then low on charge leak somewhere.
Also you can't charge a system when compressor is not engaged.

Air Conditioning problem
1995 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 208k miles

I'm trying to do an engine swap in my cargo van. To do this I need to remove the AC lines that run behind the front grill. The in-line connectors will not loosen. I've tried penatrating oil and brute force but no luck. MY QUESTION IS; can I cut the lines and splice back together with a brass compression coupling?

Are you talking about the lines to the condeser in front of the radiator? Not a real good idea to cut A/C lines or hoses, especially the high side line, pressures can exceed 300 psi while driving, and probably either blow the line off, or at least the charge would leak past it.
