1992 Chevy Astro pinging and loss of acceleration

1992 Chevy Astro 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 118k miles

I get pinging and loss of acceleration once the engine warms up and is under load. happens more frequently in higher gears. It lessens somewhat with 93 octane. Is this damaging the engine, and whow do I correct it?

ur fuel pump mite be going bad or restricked fuel filter on inline to injectrs and engin runing lean or too hot because of it check fuel pressure first
