Check engine light, alert light is on, Eco idle is not working

Hi Uzair,

It appears that the installer of the engine has made an error either during the installing engine or installing the incorrect/incompatible part.

Is the engine the only thing that was replaced or did they replace any other parts with it? Did they get the parts from a reputable supplier or from a second hand/used parts facility?

Whatever the answer to these questions, I know I would be taking it back to whoever installed this engine for you and having them check it out.

At the very least, have the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) pulled and we will be able to better assist. The fact that you are able to disconnect the battery and then it works for an hour tells me that this is more then likely a compatibility issue as if they installed the incorrect parts. Disconnecting the battery is erasing the DTC's and then it takes that amount of time for them to reset.

Thank you for your response.
I just had the scan and and the trouble code appeared is P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow. On erasing this code it worked, Lights went off. But the problem still exists. Mechanic recommended to get complete engine tuned but the thing is would it be worthy to have one week old engine tuned?

I would agree with you suspicion that this is not normal. You should not have to tune a new engine and if you do, why did he not do it before he returned it to you? I would suspect this is not a new engine but a used one from a junk yard or something like that.

Not to pry to deep but was this an auto shop that you had do this engine replacement or an individual that did it for you? The reason I ask is because it doesn’t sound like a very customer friendly business because why would they return a vehicle to you not working properly? Just seems a little odd.
