Good afternoon,

A week or so ago I found that my condenser had a massive leak, which was causing the A/C to not work. I replaced it, filled the system and the A/C worked great. Now while my wife was driving out of state the Check Charging system light came on and the van shut off. She got a new battery and the problem persisted. New alternator, same problem, cleaned up battery terminals, same problem.

The shop took a look and apparently the connector on the compressor was jacked up. They patched it up. But once again the issue has returned. Now they want to replace the compressor on the theory that that is the last thing that "needs" replaced. I'm afraid it might be faulty wiring elsewhere and will just burn up the new compressor and put us back to where we are now and a whole lot more money into this thing.

We bought the van in the winter and the A/C has never worked until I replaced that darn condenser. Before that the van ran wonderfully. Please help.

Good evening,

I doubt the A/C issue and the charging are connected.

Can you check the voltage at the battery with the engine running?

Check the 2 highlighted wires in the diagram for power to the alternator with the key on.

What does jacked up mean?
