My thought is the battery is lacking.

Have it tested fully at an auto parts store (usually a free service).

Need one?

Stroll into their parking lot before you compulsively buy one on the spot! An online purchase can be performed on them new fangled phones.

This might help you out, might try a little homework with it before you go there. See this link.

At the battery posts.

12.5 ? at a standstill

14 or so with engine running?

If all above is good you will either have a bad solenoid, bad/dirty/loose connections to it or to the starter, or bad connections on any of your big cables. (including grounds).
