Starting problem after about an hour and a half of being parked

I have a carter bbd two barrel on my 318 and i believe that i have a fuel percolation issue. i recently went through and did a basic clean on the carburetor itself and replaced the old vent valve cover. i am having an issue of being able to start in the morning with not much of a problem, but recently it is often having a problem after about an hour and a half of being parked starting. i take off the air cleaner and let it air out and eventually it will start up no problem. i heard that my carburetor might have an anti percolation valve but i have no idea what it looks like or where it might be. any help would be appreciated.

no it is probably in need of a rebuild as the float level is to low as well as accelerator pump has been eaten up by alcohol. float could be as well if it is plastic so it wont float like it is supposed to.

Would that also cause it to have a hard time starting only 5 minutes after I take off? I had the problem again today. Stopped at the gas station for a soda and I had a hard time starting. I'm not sure if it helped but I popped the hood and pulled the top of my air filter off and it started then.

actually the air cleaner off allowed a little more air in so it started. still think it's a carb issue from your description.
