car will not start

it kicks over but will not start. list of things i have done:
wire harness swap, crank sensor, spark plugs, wires, and coil pack, battery. before the harness swap it ran but on two cylinders. lets see; i have not replaced the cam sensor yet, and i have not tested the fuel pump itself, though i have popped the bolt on the fuel filter and had an helper turn the key while i watched it, it spewed fuel. I cannot say it will do the same now, something else went wrong between the engine wire harness swap and the warranty'd items. yes i warranty'd items because the old harness fried my brand new parts. any advice on testing i can do or possible options that are left would be great? i am mechanically incline and car literate, so please do not feel the need to dumb it down, lol. thanks for your time.

try a security system reset it causes stuff like this it may be a key type if you have a pro scanner scan for codes if it's security it will pop up. especially if battery has been disconnected see our link

hmac that is the most interesting thing i have ever heard, in my experience i have yet to run across a problem like this, i did snip the wires for the aftermarket alarm system (without anything hooked up during wire harness swap) but the aftermarket system had no fuse for the alarm, just 2 wires running along the harness (not in it) to a black bull horn looking deal. i have to charge up the battery and i will try to pick up a code reader today

well you need to scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge, but since you haven't scanned it you don't know. either of these can cause a no start, if you shoot choke cleaner or ether into throttle and it starts its a fuel problem. see link for fuel pressure auto parts rent gauge

yes but it's a poor way to check for a fuel pump......

my other question is about your comment pertaining to a pro scanner, i have a 20 dollar one from walmart, which has all the same functions, will that work ? considering security is a code in itself i believe

the cheap scanners only have the ability to read eng/trans codes and erase them for any security type you need a pro scanner for that.

it's ok, the scanner won't even connect to the car, my buddy's scanner did last time we tried it before the wire harness swap, in addition i did not grab the ECU/brain box from the tibby at the junk yard, i have tried the other solutions and nothing, i have not had a helper to turn the key while i checked the hum of the fuel pump nor to use the multi-meter to check the voltage for the coil pack... running out of time and ideas.

one thing I missed completlely why did you do a wire harness swap? and if it was swapped it has to be same year, model engine etc. that is why you are probably having so many problems.

ok, so no fule, no spark, i tested by pulling the coils off one at a time while a helper turned over the engine, i also put my hand on the fuel pump through the access hatch while the helper turned the key to the on position, the only thing left to do to make sure is make sure the prongs are not bent on the ECU or the plug but i was careful putting it in so i doubt it is that.... all this trouble over a wire harness swap... i had to swap the wire harness because it was melted and causing shorts, i took it out of a 98 tiburon, had same engine and plug, everything plugged up right... do i need the ECU from that tiburon ????

well if the harness burnt up probably you lost something else but if you put the ecu in the current car it will need to be reprogrammed for it because they are vin specific

so what your saying is the harness should not affect seeing as everything plugged up no issue? i was thinking of splicing the old plug unto the new harness seeing as that might be the issue, maybe the only thing different is the pin set-up

I said because you changed the harness and it melted then it probably fried the ecm that runs the car and even if you put the ecm into this car from other one it won't run properly due to it needing to be programmed to the car you put it in. I can think of no other answers so please repost your question and make sure you put you h ave changed the harness because the other one melted. there is more wrong with this car than you think.
