Car will not go past 50 MPH?

Hi,
When it reaches 50, what happens? For example, does it have a misfire, do the RPMs go high without the vehicle speeding up, or does it just seem like it has no more power?
As far as the noise, is it loud enough for you to record and upload for me to hear? If so, do that so I can hear it.
Next, does the check engine light stay on when the engine is running? If it does, have you had the computer scanned to see what diagnostic trouble codes are stored? If you haven't, I would start there. If you don't have a scan tool, oftentimes a parts store will do it free of charge.
