After reversing, the shift lever easily gets into first gear position, but the car won't go forward, seems stuck in reverse. If after reverse put it in neutral and release the clutch, a clanging noise is heard, which can be felt in the clutch pedal, then shifts into first and go forward with no problem. Went to an authorized Audi repair shop, they replaced the clutch disk, plate and bearing but the problem remains. Now they say it's the flywheel and needs to be replaced. what do you think?

It sounds like the transmission is having an issue or the shift linkage is worn/broken. To be sure can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can hear the noise? that would be great. You can upload it here with your response. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Thank you for answering my question, since my last contact i have also replaced the flywheel unfortunately the problem remains. The car sometimes won't engage into 1st gear after reverse, i have noticed that this occurs when the car is warm, when i release the clutch further from the biting point the car goes violently forward and shifts into 1st gear or after reverse i put it into neutral and fully release the clutch then a low clinging noise is heard and i can shift into 1st gear with no problem. The shift linkage has been checked by two mechanics no problem s found. One of them suggested a gearbox oil change, the car has 143000 km i am the second owner and as far as i know it hasn't been changed

It sounds like the 1st gear syncro is worn out you may need to rebuild the transmission. Here is a video that shows the transmission being removed in a similar car.
