Car turns over but does not start

Car ran fine kids lost keys. I removed rear hatch lock. had key made, put key in ignition car started then shut off. Steering wheel moves, radio works. it will start on starting fluid then shuts off. Replaced fuel pump, filter and relay, still nothing.

it seems you have fuel supply problem. lets start by check the fault codes:

You can install fuel pressure gauge and check the pressure when starting the engine check fig1 and fig2.
use our guide for checking fuel pump:
https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

If you have no fuel pressure check the fuel pump relay. check fig3 jump relay connector 1 and 4 ignition on fuel pump must be activated.if the engine starts then you might have relay problem or signal problem from control unit that prevents to activate fuel pump relay.

Okay, I'll try that. could it be that the car requires a chipped key?

Yes it can be because of it I'm asking to check the fault codes.
