The previous owner said to me that the car stereo may not be working because of a previous jump start. the CD player works fine, the cassette player works fine, however the radio will continuously look for station. any suggestions?

Hi,

Have you removed the antenna to see if one of the connectors from the mast to the radio have come loose. If not, then I suspect the antenna itself has an issue. Sometimes these get an open circuit in them and they just don't pick up any stations. However, normally they will pick up one or two of the closest stations when the antenna has failed.

See the attachments for details about the antenna.

I know the connection at the back of the radio is okay from having removed the radio. I had the headliner relined and while I had the headliner out a connection to the Mast base under the headliner was okay that is with standing not taking apart. I'm going to visit Best Buy and purchase an antenna and remove the radio again hold the antenna on one hand and connected to the radio and see if that solves the issue. was looking to see if this is any kind of syndrome some vehicles have their quirks if Aunt Anna from Best Buy doesn't solve the problem I'm going to locate somebody to bench check to stereo. owner wants to keep the original radio without having to buy new one.
