I was driving, accelerated kind of hard to beat a red light, and the car shut off. Now the car won't stay running for more than about 10 seconds. No check engine light or any other dummy lights are on.

Hello my name is Dave.

I actually have 2 Tributes myself and they have both had the same symptoms as yours. It turned out to be the most common problem with these SUVs, coils. The bad news is that when a coil goes bad on these it usually cooks the coil drivers in the computer, causes the problem to seem exaggerated. When my last one failed I was accelerating to get onto the highway. I would recommend retrieving any codes even though the light didn't come on there still could be codes stored. Here is a link to our guide to checking for codes:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

That is going to be the best place to start, if you can check for any codes and get back to us we will be happy to help you narrow down the issue. Please keep us up to date on your progress and thank you for using 2CarPros!

I hooked up my code reader yesterday, and got nothing. I'm going to try again when I get home today. Also, no check engine light or any other dummy lights ever came on, except for when you try to start the car of course.
