car shuts off while driving after check engine appears

Hi all,

The car stales shuts of while driving after check engine appears and after that doesn't start will it takes many tries to start again. Note : manifold is cracked And i recently changed oil and filter ,sparks ,air filter fuel filter and fuel pump it self (used one).

Hi,

Have you scanned the computer for diagnostic trouble codes? If the check engine light comes on, there should be something stored in the computer which will indicate where the problem is coming from.

I realize most people don't own a scanner. However, see if there is a parts store that will do it for you or lend / rent a scanner to you.

Now, this vehicle isn't offered in the US, so I have very little technical information. However, it does sounds like a bad crankshaft position sensor. Take a look through these links and see if the problem seems to mirror what is listed under the "symptoms" link.

Now, when the engine stalls and won't restart, you can either check to see if spark is lost to the spark plugs, or if you have a live data scanner, check to see if there is an RPM signal when you crank the engine. If there is no spark or there is no RPM signal, the suspect the crank sensor is bad.
