Car shut down? First my battery light indicator came on?

This sounds pretty straight forward; it sounds like the alternator went out and allowed the electrical system to drain down below operational voltage. But to be sure we can charge the battery back up and start the engine then follow this guide to test the alternator:

If it fails here is how to change the alternator out in the images below. They call it a generator, but it is an alternator. You will need to remove the serpentine belt as well. Please go over this guide and report back.
