Car shaking between twenty and forty MPH?

My car starts to shake at 20 mph and then its vigorous shaking at 40 mph until about 55 then it stops, also if I take my foot off the gas the shaking stops… I was told tires, so I bought 4 new tires and had them balanced… one tire they were having issues to balance it required more weight than the others… My car is still shaking…

Hi,

Were they able to balance the one that was difficult to balance? Also, if the vibration stops when you release the throttle, that sounds more like a CV joint that could be worn.

When you make a sharp turn, have you ever noticed a clicking sound? If there is, it would likely indicate an outer CV joint failure. However, the inner joint may not make noise. Take a look at this link and let me know if anything mirrors what you experience.

Next, has anyone checked the engine mounts to make sure one isn't bad?

Yes, thank you for replying, they got it finally balanced with more weight than it should’ve needed… The shaking stops when I hit the higher speeds… I ordered a torque strut mount from rockaway auto because someone said it might be that cause my engine moves a lot when I accelerate.

Hi,

The mount could be an issue. Have you received the new torque strut? If so, have you had a chance to install it? If you have and things haven't changed, I suspect it could be an inner CV joint.
