Car only moves in reverse

Car only moves in reverse came to a stop sign it jerked, turned off car restarted car moved with no power. left car for about 4 hours put a little coolant I seen it was low started car it drove back home. next day I put in reverse and backed out of driveway fine but put in drive and would not move. no check engine lights are on.motor and the car sound good no noises from anywhere.when this happened I did feel my ignition like clicking but it does not do it now. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning,

How long since you changed the fluid in the transmission? Dirty fluid could cause this issue.

Beyond that, the fact you do not have any codes tells me it is a mechanical issue internally in the transmission. It would require removal and inspection for the failure.

Thank you. found the problem. I dropped the transmission pan oil was dirty but I checked the transmission supply lines inside the oil pan sure enough 1 line had failed at the weld. it was completely detached. you have to check very good at the welded points or you won't ever know the problem. One shop had already told me I need a transmission. remove the 5 little screws it comes right off I replaced the part for $10.00.
