I changed the air filter and this problem stopped for 2 weeks. It started again after 2 weeks. What could be the problem?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

The first thing I suspect based on your description is the throttle cable. It connects the throttle pedal to the throttle body. I attached an exploded view of the throttle body and circled the cable and where it mounts. With the engine off, have a helper hit the gas pedal and see if there is movement at the cable. Is it moving the throttle?

I suspect either it is disconnected or the cable is broken.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Thanks so much. I will. But is that why the air filter worked for 2 weeks? I repaired the fuel pump in February, but I didn't replace it.

Welcome back:

I suspect the air filter box may be hitting or is out of place. Honestly, unless it was totally plugged, it would rev.

Let me know what you find.

Well, the mechanic checked the air filter and then cleaned the mass air flow sensor . The symptoms improved. What do you think?

Welcome back:

Is it now running normally? I'm not sure how the MAF would prevent the engine from revving when you pressed the accelerator. It can most certainly cause problems, but for no response, it's a stretch.

Let me know how it is now running.

Take care,
Joe

I recently wrote in about my car slowing down while accelerating. I did a scan and have a series of codes. My mechanic suggested that I change my MAF and then suggested I change my cold start valve. I feel this is unnecessary since there are other problems. What do you think?

Good Morning,

I see you show a few of the DTC Codes you are seeing.
So far I have:
P0110
P0115
P0135
P0155
P1300
P1315

Is that all of them? If not, can you post the rest of them for us to look at?
Also which engine do you have in that vehicle?

Meanwhile I will start looking at the schematics and see what might be common to all of these DTC's

Thanks for your prompt reply. Yup, those are all the codes. It is a 2l engine with a hp 148hp per 6,000 rpm's. It has 4 in line cylinders with 16 valves.and the engine type is gas. It is a 4 WD with a 4 speed automatic transmission. I included an image in the prior question.

Okay, I didn't see the other question you mentioned but that's okay.

I'm thinking its something electrical, perhaps a ground, or a short in a harness. I am scouring through the schematics, but I have a meeting to go to and then another one after. So when I can I will catch up.

In the meantime, here are the schematics to look at. Right now I want to see if I can find anything common to all of the devices that are reporting errors.

Take a look at these and see if you can find any common fuses, grounds, splices etc.

Woops, I'm late to my meeting so I have to run. Be back a little later.

Uh oh. I have no idea. But did you get the image of the scan I sent you? Anything is possible, though my mechanic changed my spark plugs. Two of them were soaked in oil and he said the rubber seal needs to be changed.

Sorry for the multiple replies but I'm thinking of the problem in more detail. The problem always occurs from the start. For example, if I start the car in the morning or after it's been parked a while. But when it gets going it doesn't show symptoms until the next day . Could that be mechanical or electrical. Bare in mind,I know nothing about cars.
