So my car key broke into two, and one half is stuck in ignition switch. A car mechanic suggested to replace the whole ignition switch with new one from advance auto. Now after does not detect new switch and neither the old one. Took to Ford Dealer they are not able to program the switch either. They are not sure what going on with my car computer (CPM). They say my car thinks it is now stolen. fyi, I am the original owner of this car. He says they look remove the whole system and look for it (for $300-600), but he thinks odds are very slim, if they find something wrong they may not be able to find parts, and recommends I rather discard my car to junk yard.
I find it tough to believe that I have to throw away my car for a stuck key. It has been working fine, except this.
Does anyone have any suggestions and or you think this is the end of my car. I would appreciate your help. thank you
